“Territory” Selected for Ekotopfilm – Envirofilm Festival 2024
Fantastime Entertainment’s compelling 3D animated short film,
Territory, has been selected for the 51st edition of the Ekotopfilm – Envirofilm Festival, one of the world’s longest-running environmental film festivals. Directed remotely from New Zealand by Mehdi Yazdani,
Territory serves as a poignant allegory on the consequences of global warming and human self-interest. The narrative follows two polar bears struggling to survive after losing their habitat to rising sea levels. Instead of collaborating, the bears’ conflict over a small iceberg leads to further environmental destruction, symbolizing humanity’s territorial disputes amid escalating ecological crises.
The film’s message, encapsulated in the slogan “People fight for the territory while the whole planet is sinking into disasters,” draws attention to ongoing conflicts over resources even as the planet faces a climate emergency. The selection of
Territory highlights the film’s alignment with Ekotopfilm’s mission to foster discussions on sustainability and raise awareness of global environmental challenges.

Territory’s Role at Ekotopfilm
The inclusion of
Territory aligns with the festival’s goals of provoking reflection and encouraging sustainable attitudes toward the planet. By depicting two polar bears’ struggle over diminishing resources, the film resonates with audiences facing the reality of climate change. The bears’ fight serves as a metaphor for the real-world competition over territories and resources, which exacerbates the ecological crisis.
As extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and biodiversity loss continue to affect the planet,
Territory acts as a powerful reminder of the need for collective action. Its narrative urges viewers to look beyond immediate gains and consider the broader implications of environmental neglect, promoting cooperation and the protection of shared ecosystems.
International Recognition of Territory
Beyond its selection for Ekotopfilm,
Territory has garnered attention at other international film festivals, underscoring its relevance in the global climate discourse. Fantastime Entertainment’s dedication to using animated storytelling as a vehicle for raising environmental awareness has earned the film a reputation for its educational and emotional impact.
The selection at Ekotopfilm – Envirofilm, with its emphasis on sustainability and open environmental dialogue, provides
Territory with a platform to reach audiences passionate about ecological issues. The festival’s screenings often lead to discussions that extend beyond the event itself, fostering meaningful community engagement.
